What are the treatments for Vascular defects?
The YAG laser is used to treat vascular defects such as broken blood vessels of the face and legs; cherry angiomas; birth marks; and other vacular lesions. The YAG laser penetrates deep in the dermis to treat lesions that have a deep component, not visible to the naked eye. The laser causes coagulation of the vessels and thus destruction that the body removes.
During the treatment, the area is cooled with the handpiece and the laser light is emitted. The red area turns a deep purple. It takes the body anywhere from one week to one month to remove the coagulated vascular lesion. One to two treatments are needed.
