Common Questions about Laser Vein Removal

How does laser vein treatment work?
Laser delivers concentrated light in a specific wavelength of the spectrum.  Each wavelength is absorbed by a different target, such as melanin, blood, or water.  The hand piece delivers light pulses in the 1064 nm wavelength range, which is ideal for treating blood.  The light pulses cause the blood within the vein to coagulate.  The blood affects the blood vessel lining, which causes the vessel to constrict and later reabsorbed by the body.

What do laser vein treatments feel like?
The pulses feel like a mild rubber band snap.

 Are these treatments safe?
During your free consultation, we will discuss the risks and benefits.  Besides the delivery of energy in a smooth, gently pulse; there is a water supply that keeps the gold plated cooper cooling hand piece chilled.

What should I expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment you may see the vessel disappear, the vessel darken, or the vessel shrink.  The surrounding skin may turn pink or swollen for up to 24 hours.

How many treatments are needed?
Patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient.  However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessel or lesion.
